265 THE BLUE FEATHER Zipakná had slowly walked all the old, vine-infested trails through the heavy brush on the northeast side of the island called Kaóc. He had not yet found his Staff of Power, but he would never stop looking for it. Then at night, a very dark night, his staff did one of the things it was designed to do-it shook the ground. That shaking, just for a moment, sent him the information as to which direction he needed to go to find it, and about how far away it was from him. He turned south, and with a broad, stone-toothed smile, began walking in a straight line towards his goal of finding his property. It might take him more than two kins of travel to get there he thought, but he would find it. The Staff of Power was his. He used it in his life’s work to make the planet of Vivia shake. He wondered in all this time why the staff had never sent out a message before; yet, he was content that at last he knew exactly where it was located. The gnarly trees in front of his path made him mad with rage. He tore them out of the ground, roots and all, and threw them like confetti, high into the air. A family of nocturnal kinkajous, nesting in a massive White Oak tree, was thrown to the ground. They all had to quickly scramble to avoid being trampled by Zipakná. He would not be slowed down for any reason. He would have some joyful fun, making humans tremble at his powers again. The last thoughts in Tital’s mind, before he drifted off to sleep were about the ancient ring on his finger. He knew the ring was made of pure gold, and that the only large stone in the ring was an Indian Bloodstone. They were the obvious physical things he could see, but what kind of Otherworld powers did it possess? It had the power to repel an evil Spirit, as it had thrown around very powerful Lords of the Underworld like babies. It had caused
