THE BLUE FEATHER
Zipakná had slowly walked all the old, vine-infested trails
through the heavy brush on the northeast side of the island
called Kaóc. He had not yet found his Staff of Power, but he
would never stop looking for it. Then at night, a very dark night,
his staff did one of the things it was designed to do-it shook the
ground. That shaking, just for a moment, sent him the
information as to which direction he needed to go to find it, and
about how far away it was from him. He turned south, and with

would have some joyful fun, making humans tremble at his
powers again.
The last thoughts in Tital’s mind, before he drifted off to sleep
were about the ancient ring on his finger. He knew the ring was
made of pure gold, and that the only large stone in the ring was
an Indian Bloodstone. They were the obvious physical things he
could see, but what kind of Otherworld powers did it possess? It
had the power to repel an evil Spirit, as it had thrown around
very powerful Lords of the Underworld like babies. It had caused
