THE BLUE FEATHER
“Very well.” Yum Cimil disappeared into a blue-green mist
that formed around him. Ah Peku followed and then they were
gone from this world.
Into the Otherworld…
Tital and Bardala awoke next to each other. They could see
their bodies for some unworldly reason glow a pale translucent
white. Tital stiffly sat up, tried looking around to see something
familiar, and then turned to Bardala.
“What place is this?”
“I don’t know for sure, but it doesn’t look like Kansas,”
Bardala sat up saying.
“Very funny, and you don’t look like Dorothy either,” Tital
said standing up, but looking down and unable to see his feet
through the mist that surrounded the ground. Or was it ground,
he thought.
“I remember what happened to us,” Tital said as he looked at
his glowing hands. “We were standing outside that house when I
felt all this weird energy running through my body, just like the
time I was hit by lightning... ”
“I felt the same thing, and now look at us. I don’t feel hurt.
Do you?”
“No,” Tital said as he put his hand on her shoulder.
“I can feel you, but you’re not warm...or cold.”
“Pinch me...pinch me hard, hard enough that I can feel it.”
Bardala said standing up.
“Why?”
