THE BLUE FEATHER
“Maybe, it is just some bats flying around in the sky. You told
me the Pterodactyls can’t fly at night,” Bardala said as she came
over and put her free hand on Tital’s shoulder.
On the top of the pyramid Yum Cimil smiled and told Ah Peku,
“Do it, NOW!” Ah Peku grabbed one of the two bolts of lightning
at his side and hurled it down at Tital.
“KKAAABBOOOOOMMM!”
The bright light flashed all around the group on the ground.
The tall Staff of Power received one piece of the bolt of
electricity, while Tital and Bardala received the energy from the
rest of the thunderbolt. They both collapsed as the two
Pterodactyls flew in close for the kill.
“Throw another one, get some more of the group,” prodded
Yum Cimil, laughing and wanting to take more humans to
Xibalbá. Ah Peku took up the other bolt of pure energy and
hurled it down trying to hit the small, blonde-haired girl and the
tallest boy standing close to her. Just as the lightning bolt was
about to hit them, the two hungry Pterodactyls up in the sky got
in the way. Lightning, fortunately for Viviana and Ronú, always
tries to seek the path of least resistance.
“KKKAAABBBOOOOOOMMM!”
The thunderbolt fried the two high flyers to a snappy crisp
and grounded through a tall coconut tree. It missed its intended
target of the humans. Moka and Eegh had to scurry out of the
way, as the two bodies hit the ground with a loud “THUUDD!”
Viviana, quick to respond, pointed her finger skyward and
wrapped the whole house and courtyard in a protective bubble
then she yelled, “Jonathan, get Tital and Sis inside the house,
NOW!”
