THE BLUE FEATHER
staircase leading to the top faced east, to greet the rising Sun
each day.
“It is absolutely huge, I feel like an ant next to this pyramid,”
Jonathan said looking up at the top trying to see the Pterodactyls.
“Can you see any of those Pterodactyls up at the top?” Ronú
asked.
“No, but being out here they can sure see us, if they want to
look.” Kuó stated.
“He’s right, come on Moka, bring Eegh and let’s check out
one of these large houses facing the plaza. We need a good
place to camp. A safe place,” Viviana said, collecting her little
furry friends.
“Brilloso, go check out the courtyard to that house,” Tital
instructed his dog. “The front door and windows are shut up, so
maybe there is a chance all the wildlife has stayed out. I’ll go
open the door.” He rode up inside the courtyard where Brilloso
waited, and he pushed the thick, wooden door open with his
shoulder. He turned on his LED flashlight and began exploring
the various dark rooms. It was remarkably clean, with only a light
covering of dust on the floors. In the kitchen area, there was
even a good supply of very dry, small sticks to build a cook fire in
the hearth stacked in the corner. Tital had also noticed a large
supply of firewood stacked neatly to the outside of the house.
He was glad to report to a waiting Bardala that there were no
lurking animals detected by Brilloso.
“All clear, there is even firewood to use. No one is home.”
Tital reported, holding Belize’s bridle while Bardala dismounted.
“Just the way I like it for a change—peaceful. Let’s make
camp, everyone,” Bardala said as she went inside the house to
inspect for herself.
