JUAN FRANCISCO BLANCO
“Be on guard, everyone,” Bardala yelled out, “Brilloso must
have found something....”
“They’re huge!” Lena screamed.
“Look at the size of those beaks!” Kuó exclaimed, pulling his
horse, Turbo, up to a quick stop. As they had rounded the edge
of the high stone fence, they could easily see four monstrous
dinosaurs, called Pterodactyls. The flying creatures were almost
too busy picking the bones clean of some other large,
unrecognizable beast that was lying dead on its side to notice the
humans. The hungry beasts voraciously tore chunks of bloody
flesh from the carcass, like they hadn’t eaten in a while. They
butted each other’s heads around trying to get to the choicest
pieces of red meat. At first, they were oblivious to the humans
and their horses, and it took Brilloso charging for them for one of
the Pterodactyls to scream the alarm. The crew had plenty of
time to nock arrows before Brilloso’s suicidal attack. He soon
realized these birds were not intimidated by what they must
have considered a minor nuisance.
“Brilloso, heel! Get yourself back here, NOW!” Tital yelled
while Brilloso was running forward in attack mode. Tital was
afraid Brilloso had more than met his match. He could have soon
been a doggie appetizer, skewered on one of those long bony
beaks, if Tital hadn’t used his special powers. He lifted Brilloso
high into the air and floated him back beside the group of riders.
“Pin those beasts to the ground!” Tital instructed the archers.
Immediately, arrows flew to their marks, deep into the
screeching Pterodactyls.
