finished battle. They both launched arrows, and the old male
Raptor joined his fellow creatures in death at last.
When Jonathan and Ronú finally floated to the ground, they
stared in amazement. Little Eegh’s body had stopped bleeding.
His broken bones from the Gigantoraptor’s claw-tipped blow had
rapidly knitted together, and his little limbs were now straight. It
had taken Tital and Bardala a full ten minutes to pull little Eegh
away from Yum Cimil’s grasp of death. The Spirit of the
Underworld had woven strong bonds, wanting to take little Eegh
with him. Bardala’s eyes flashed beams of blue into the sky,
striking Yum Cimil until he finally released his cold hold of death
on little Eegh. Moka edged closer to his little son, and much to
everyone joy, the little one opened his eyes, and weakly started
chattering in the language of the monkeys. The one interpreter
they had, Viviana, said, “Eegh says there was this big monster
pulling hard on his one arm, and a woman and man pulling on his
other arm. There was a bright, blue light from the woman’s eyes,
and it blinded the bad monster so he let go. Now he has
awakened from this bad dream, and the ones who saved him
from the monster were standing over him.”
Moka and several of the other monkeys jumped up and down
in glee, howling loudly, so happy that little Eegh was returned to
them.
All were very tired by this time, and Bardala said to everyone
there, “We need to get everyone onboard our sailboats. Once
we are underway, we can rest up from this battle. Viviana,
please ask Moka if he would like to come along, and bring Eegh
with him. The trip will take two days, as it will take that long to
unload all these eggs. We can all relax and rest on the way to the
other island.”
