THE BLUE FEATHER
Mahucutah began to move. First it was just his eyes. After
more than a thousand years, he could see again. What he saw in
front of him was a young man. Maybe this was the one who
called him to come back from the Otherworld. As a Mayan
Guardian Spirit, sent to be one of the four protectors of men, it
would take him all night to become fully alive and mobile from
his former stone state in this realm of existence. Brilloso heard
the soft grinding of the stone all night, as it slowly moved and
separated, but he saw no detectable movement with his eyes, so
he also slept.
