“I’m going to put them in bed, and then, four eyes are better
than two. I’ll come back and help you stand guard,” Bardala told
him, as she opened the NorthFace tent flap.
Down on the beach, the ancient creature Zipakná had been
the one that had roared out in frustration, startling the campers.
He was out of his water element, and unsure which way to go.
His Staff of Power no longer gave out its vibration like call that he
could home in on. All he could do was pick a direction, and
follow it. He went slowly along the beach, in a northwesterly
direction, searching and searching with his eyes of stone. His
massive weight left huge footprints in the sand as he passed,
until the tidal surf washed away all signs of his passing. He
walked on into the night, with only a slight shadow cast by the
three shining moons above.
Bardala came back out of the tent, after Viviana and Jonathan
had settled in for sleep, and said, “Moka has decided to spend
the night with us. He is going to help with the egg relocation
project tomorrow.”
