Tital sighed with relief, immediately feeling better knowing
she was fine. He brushed back some of her hair, glad to feel her
warmth.
“I’m not sure...something to do with this staff. Maybe I
should get rid of it,” he said.
Bardala immediately replied, “No! Don’t do that. Remember
what Huracán said, that there are no coincidences. Please, check
on Jonathan.” She then kneeled next to Viviana, and gently shook
her awake. She looked over at Tital, who was then kneeling
between Jonathan and Ronú, and in the process of waking them
both.
“Jonathan, Ronú, come on guys, wake up,” he said.
“Wha...what happened?” a groggy Jonathan asked.
“Ohhhh...my hand...tingles! It feels like it went to sleep for a
while. Yikes! I really hate that feeling,” Ronú exclaimed. Little
Moka and Kuó woke up on their own, and were still sitting on the
ground looking around, puzzled as to what had happened.
“What was all that about?” Kuó asked.
“I don’t really know, but it was something to do with the staff
that Tital found on the beach,” Bardala said, standing up.
“Look!” Viviana said, holding up her hand and then turning it
over. Rock dust poured out of her hand, as she explained, “That
was a pretty green rock I picked up yesterday, and now it’s rock
dust. I just now crushed it with my bare hand!” Amazed at what
she had done, Tital walked over to the area of the campfire and
pick up several rocks from the ring around the fire. He handed
each person a lemon-sized piece of granite. Jonathan was the
first to close his fist and squeeze his rock, and it crumbled to dust
in his hand. Ronú and Kuó did the same, with the same result.
