They all agreed that this brutality must stop. Chief Trall
presented another emerald and talon necklace to Zorin for his
bravery in defending his tribe, and also for killing dreaded Gigantoraptors.
It seemed that a demonstration of Zorin’s prowess with his
Barnett Predator crossbow was in order. His deadly accuracy in
skewering several difficult targets impressed the Almaya greatly.
Trall told his people that Bardala and Tital were having Ah Tabai
bring them crossbows of dwarvian craftsmanship, metal saws,
and metal axes. Zorin had promised to stay for a uinal with the
tribe, and instruct them how to utilize crossbows for defense,
and for hunting for food. Zorin would also aid in teaching the
villagers how to ride horses.
As the campfire dimmed, Lena, who had been petting
Brilloso, asked Tital as she stood up, “Jonathan tells me where
you come from there are many dogs like Brilloso. These dogs
help people. Is it possible that we can bring back on our trip dogs
like Brilloso? Jonathan says these dogs can protect you.”
“Yes, absolutely. That is a really good idea. There are many
different types of dogs. I’m sure we could bring some to help
your people.” Tital could tell Brilloso had many loyal friends
among the Almaya.
Then he asked her, “What kind of dog would you like?” She
and all the children with her all pointed to the happy Brilloso,
who was basically in doggie heaven with all the attention he was
getting.
The next morning Tital arose early, and had a short talk with
Trall before assigning Zotz and Ah Chun Caan the tasks of helping
