Go at Your Own Pace

Being vegan takes a lot of work, meaning it will also take a lot of time. It is recommended to leave one type of animal at the time, from my personal experience I would say that leaving eggs and chicken are the easiest. Cheese and milk are the hardest to remove from your regular diet. Also, start by adding more plant based food. If you are vegetarian you will have a quicker transition. Make gradual changes according to of how comfortable you feel.

The Jokes and Questions Will Never Stop

People will have their own opinion because everyone has different body types, therefore their lifestyle and their diet will be different. Why, When and How do you do it, are the most common questions, don't worry about being different. People will start making jokes because they aren't used to this type of diet. So get used to the jokes, laugh them off or maybe take their opportunity to explain your diet or explain why your diet is important to you.

It Isn't More Expensve, but it Could Be

While meat is the most expensive protein source, a pound is about $3 - $6, so you may save money by not purchasing it. On the other hand, a pound of beans is about $1. But most people spend too much money on organic and soy-based food. When you go to restaurants it is a little bit more expensive.

Regardless of the reason why you're going vegan- whether it is health, ethical, environmental or a personal reason- it is a huge step.

In case you didn't know, being vegan means giving up meat, or using animal products of any kind. Veganism is not just a way of eating, it is a way of life.

Be Prepared to Read the Food Labels

The most common thing as a vegan is reading food labels- verifying the ingredients is a must. You’re going to start doing this a lot, just because some products are glaringly non-vegan, doesn't mean that it's suitable for a vegan diet. For example, some protein bars, bread, and granolas contain Casein and Whey, which come from milk. While gelatin and tallow are derived from meat. Quisque vitae rutrum mi. Aliquam ac erat at neque. Nulla at facilisi.

Things You Should Know Before Going Vegan.

You Won't Miss Meat

Beeing vegan for about two years and I can hand-to-heart say I don't miss it at all. The temptation is there but you wouldn't miss it. Being vegan is something that you choose, so you should be willing to cut out the meat from your daily basis. Eventually, you will get used to not eating meat..

Find New Protein Sources

The Institute of Medicine recommends that adults get at least 0.8 grams of protein daily for every kilogram of body mass. And the best sources of vegan protein are quinoa, lentils, natural soy, beans and seitan. The products you should consider adding to your diet are tofu, nuts and hemp seeds miso, tempeh, soy milk, and edamame. Plus, there is vegan protein powder. Include rich protein veggies like broccoli, asparagus, and cauliflower. But try to go easy on soy-based products because it can cause heart health and cancer.

It Doesn't Mean You Will Automatically Lose Weight.

While vegan population is, on average slimmer than non-vegans, a vegan diet does not guarantee weight loss. Going vegan isn't about losing weight, it is more about a lifestyle change. Many vegans may gain weight if they don't learn how to balance their meals properly. And joining to the community doesn't mean being the super-healthy version of yourself, there`s also junk food for vegans.
