Background Founded in 1969, Meals on Wheels of RI began with one route serving seventeen seniors in Providence. Today, our 500 volunteers deliver nutritious meals to more than 3,700 residents each year. We are a food is medicine-focused organization that serves infants through centenarians.
BRAG LINES Thanks to our volunteers, donors and partners, Meals on Wheels of RI’ s strategic work has strengthened partnerships statewide while championing food is medicine, advancing health equity and promoting overall well-being. In March 2025, we delivered our 21 millionth meal and now serve 77 % more meals each weekday than five years ago.
Pay it Forward Your contribution to Meals on Wheels of RI will lessen food insecurity and social isolation for at-risk Rhode Island residents statewide. You will advance our work by ensuring equitable access to nutritional support and opportunity for improved health regardless of background or circumstances.

Our 2030 strategic plan is guiding our work to expand core nutritional programs, strengthen our role as a trusted health care partner and drive meaningful growth into our next decade of service.
We’ ve expanded to at-risk populations— including veterans, perinatal women and those with chronic illness— through culturally and medically tailored meals, supplemental groceries and community health worker support.
Becoming a home-delivered meal program volunteer driver offers a meaningful and rewarding way to give back to the community, providing nutritious meals and social connection to those we serve. We offer comprehensive training and flexible scheduling.
