body look curvaceous, 4) making the body look slimmer, and
5) balancing body parts to accentuate the positive attributes.
In addition to posing solutions, we discuss projecting energy,
and creating different feelings.
Pose like a Model
Although these posing directions give models the best
angles and depth of features – they may not be comfortable
to sustain. It is important to note that these poses are not
natural ways of standing or sitting as one would normally stand
or sit in conversation with someone nearby. This is why runway
models always look like they are posing, and look like
mannequins and almost not human. Posing and modeling
is about accenting the body to make it even more beautiful.
That being said, try these posing directions to experience
the professional difference of how professional models pose.

with head tilt angle can create different types of
projected emotion.
Face forward Jaw line Definition.
Models should “tilt their forehead down and
forward” – in an uncomfortable and awkward
position. This gives models jaw line definition,
opens their eyes, and initiates an upward gaze for
a more dynamic and strong eye gaze. This slight
movement also engages the body, as the muscles
in the back of the neck and top of the shoulders
engages the core strength in the body, which also
helps the model to project more energy in the pose.
Slightly Turned Pose with Jaw line Definition
Models should stand or sit at a 45 degree angle
to the photographer. Drop the shoulder in
front nearest the photographer – then circle the
opposite shoulder around and drop down and
back – to elongate the neck and energize the
torso and posture. Look at the photographer with
forehead forward and tilt the head slightly – for an
attention getting pose. Sometimes, when you ask
the model to “look at the photographer” – they
only glance forward with their eyes and don’t turn
