mizmar , then into nai . Percussion qafla moves along with the chorus to a quick dramatic end .
Track 8 : Andahlak ( Calling You ): Vocals : Rana Ateek , Lyrics : Magdi Nagib
This sweet vocal by Rana Ateek begins with a mawal taxim . The singer talks about “ those eyes who stay up late at night and hearts who are suffering from love . If you look into the dark you can see 100 moons .” The lyrics are very sentimental . She sings to her love and wishes to see him to lighten her days . She promises to be very loyal to him and she will never forget him . The rhythms in this song are : Saidi , Maksoum , Wahda Kibeera , and fast Maksoum .
The song opens with a beautiful soulful accordion taxim that leads into a gentle female vocal taxim with nai accents . Great piece for teachers to instruct dancers in the finer points of taxim and nuanced movement . Maksum vocal in a moderate tempo , which includes sections of mizweg and nai sections . This piece sounds like a performance with a band in a Cairo nightclub .
Track 9 : Soukara Remix ( Sweet Baby ): Vocals : Hamada El Masri , Lyrics : Mostafa El Damarani
Dr . Samy shares one of the oldest of his compositions written for the famous Egyptian singer Mohamed Rushdi . In this version , the singer is Hamada El Masri . The song starts with solo tabla Maksoum then Saidi with the mizmar sound . The vocal is on the Maksoum and the bridges ( qaflat ) are with Saidi rhythm . In this song , the singer flirts with a sugar-sweet girl who has just moved to his neighborhood . He is frustrated that he must wait for her for a long time just trying to see her and get her attention . This can be a good song for the melaya fancy dress with the typical Egyptian moves of the Melaya Lef dance .
It is a fun piece with orchestra and syncopated accents with violins . Joyous chorus and singer exchange passages . The piece is accented by percussion and saz sections . Dance to this piece would be playful , allowing for many of the fun movements and attitudes of dancers like Alla Kushnar .
Track 10 : Gawaher Remix : Instrumental
This is one of the original compositions from Dr . Farag which has become very famous because many dancers choose it for their competition performances . This version starts with tabla solo Malfouf , then it goes through many rhythmic changes : Malfouf , Maksoum , Saidi , Masmoudi , and then a fast Maksoum . There is a solo tabla and the finale with Malfouf . It truly is a great piece for performance and competition to showcase a dancer ’ s knowledge and competence of rhythms .
There is a dramatic opening to this piece with orchestra , and percussion and finger cymbals . This melodic piece is perfect for dancing while entering the stage with an extralong veil . Listen to the melodic phrasing and create dance choreography that matches the phrases and incorporates detailed accents and poses .
The piece stops and moves into a nice Malfouf then moves on to Ayoubi with opportunities to move with undulations and traveling steps decorated with undulations and accents with hips . The piece dramatically slows , providing a musical background for dramatic moves ; then , the accordion and chorus provide a transition to the Maksoum section with percussive musical stops and accents - perhaps some hair tossing ? Then , the piece resumes the theme as a finale that provides the opportunity to “ dance across the stage and perform turns ” and ending in a dramatic pose .
Track 11 : Set el Hosen – Remix : Instrumental
Set el Hosen is an old piece that has been rerecorded with a modern sound and live orchestra . It starts with solo tabla Malfouf , Ayoubi , a fast maksoum , then solo maksoum , and ends with the Malfouf . The chorus chanting in the middle to the set El hosen ( the beautiful lady is coming ) ( Alla Alla Allah Set El chosen halla – praise Allah the beautiful chosen woman is coming ). Amazing sounds of the orchestra and nai with tabla sections in between . There is a nice accordion and the chorus comes back again with the same melody . A classic piece that has been used by many dancers in the Middle East .
You ’ ll love the drama of the entrance music which provides a few measures of music as an introduction before the “ Set el Hosen ” musical theme begins . Those who know this famous piece ( also known as “ Princess ”) will appreciate this version as it is indeed special with an energy created by the instrumentation and the chorus . Arab audiences will undoubtedly join in the singing along
