performance art like oriental dance , it is vital to consider the cultural aspects of the vision of performance . It is your responsibility as a leader and teacher to research and carefully present an appropriate , tasteful , and culturally appropriate performance .
7 . They don ’ t overindulge their ego . I love speaking on the topic of “ servant leadership .” I enjoy sharing this message because great leaders find their greatness serving others , as long as no ego gets in the way . Humility is the trait , but excellence is their accomplishment . They throw away ego and use their serving mindset to plot the path to bigger and better things . Be sure to balance humility with the reality of the need to lead others in developing high-quality performance and dance – yet without compelling others to force them into a mold that only mirrors your own ego .
8 . They do what matters . Outstanding leaders know their priorities . They waste little time and are in a hurry to achieve . Projects are priorities in order of importance . There is no clutter in their life . Their efficiency is like a perpetual motion machine , no friction to slow them down . Leadership in developing great performance art is necessary when most of those who engage in this dance art can only devote part of their time given the realities of living life and having other career preoccupations .

Train to assure learning has occurred . Then you can hold people accountable if you find it necessary to maintain standards and meet goals successfully . When working with dancers it ’ s important to define goals , develop structure for movement , and the parameters of performance . If students have a definition of these keys for success ; then they will better understand and be prepared to understand and deal with feedback when they make mistakes .

Great leaders assess the skill potential of their employees . Supporting the maturation of rising dancers makes the leader grow , and the organization prospers — a win-win list of actions for all . Take a look at every successful dance troupe and school of dance – the key to success is promoting the development of skills and ability of the students . Allow some time during the instruction and learning process that gives students the latitude to contribute to the learning process . This may mean giving up a controlling leadership instructional style and providing opportunity for students to try and develop new ways of moving and performing .
10 . They forgive and forget . Any leader that does neither will find they soon lead no one . Employees will make
