I have been very fortunate to have many different chapters of my dance life . In my early 20s , I was a young dancer who came upon belly dance in my local community in Los Angeles . With the help of my early belly dance teachers , I started performing in Los Angeles at restaurants , weddings , corporate events , and nightclubs that included live music . As the demand for more than one dancer grew , I created my own local dance company called Jillina ’ s Sahlala Dancers . After years of study , I was recognized by the International Academy of Middle Eastern Dance and awarded both
