We also have a choice in whether we simply are responding,
hence living from a defensive stance, vs. being in action we
desire, hence living from an offensive stance. In other words,
to put it back into dance terms, are we leading or are we
following? The differences in how things unfold around
us (outwardly in our life experience) can be staggering
depending upon how we are being: if simply responding to
life, we might be settling for other people’s crumbs whereas
if we are taking life head on, moving through it with gusto,
invigoration, and – especially – joy and gratitude, we are
likely to get the whole brownie (and filled with molten
chocolate lava, chocolate chips, and topped with ice cream –
or raspberries, whichever you like best – both even!) rather
than being left with only the crumbs. And, one of the best
parts to this is: the experiences along the way are far more
fun and joyous than if we are simply on someone else’s ride.
When we take action with confidence and without hesitation
we are pushing energy out from us and, when that happens,
things, people and events respond more favorably to us than
when we take action with hesitation and trepidation, whereby
energy is receding in towards us, bringing along with it things
we may not enjoy so much. I know, I know, this sounds like
it could be hocus pocus, airy-fairy, mumbo jumbo stuff, but
there is scientific evidence of this. Unfortunately, we don’t
see the energy and how it flows, pulls things towards us, or
pushes things away from us, and so it can be hard to believe –
until we live it enough to see the proof for ourselves. Once we
do, we know it to be true.
Getting back to the leading or following ways of living…
since there is always a domino effect of things falling into
place as a result from what’s happened before, it makes
sense that where we could be in a month or a year, or
more, will be very different if we’re living in a way that’s
predominantly joyful and in taking the proverbial bull by
the horns, in our actions, rather than if we meet things in
our life with hesitancy.
