The biggest challenge with my business is finding time to be a full-time mom while shooting. Because of that, I shoot during the day or work around my kids' schedule. My youngest is on the autism spectrum, so I promised myself that I would always be present and consistent with my children. Family comes first. So if that means editing until 3 in the morning, I will... because I can't take that time away from them.
Clients tell me that they booked me because they love how I mix the posed shots with the candid. They also love how I can get their authentic chemistry. I also spend a ton of time on my edits because I cull, edit in Lightroom, batch in Photoshop and then pull every photo through Photoshop for airbrushing and a more detailed edit.
If I were to add one extra thing... it is that I love the photography community. I am happy to share locations, happy to tell what lens I prefer and any tips to give (if inquired). There are so many new and seasoned photographers out there, and I love seeing everyone succeed. It is not a competition. It is a camaraderie. I feel so lucky to have such talented friends, and I will always support them. You can learn a lot from others by seeing their perspective through their lens - and that is how you grow and step outside the box.
