The Holidays were always filled with magic in our house. From the incredible sweet aromas of my mama's cooking, to the twinkling lights on our house and our tree. Our Tree...always the delight of my Holiday Season.
It always started the morning after Thanksgiving. Yes, for those of you who can't remember the days before we had a "Black Friday." That was always the morning we set out on our Family Christmas Tree Hunt.
My mom would bundle us all up and pack our turkey sandwiches and hot chocolate. My Dad would get the saw and tie-straps and we would head for the mountains and up into the snow.
The cold, crisp air was refreshing as we set out on our adventure. I was always amazed and delighted at the snow's magical twinkling. It sparkled like glitter and I always felt like we were in a beautiful Snow Globe.
When we found THE Tree, it was much like the scene in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, the clouds parted, the sun shone directly on our tree and we could almost hear the angels sing!
I remember the many Christmas Tree Hunts way more than any Christmas present I ever got. My favorite tradition lives on as my husband and I each year take our young girls out on our Magical Christmas Tree Hunt Adventure.
