Hailey Collette

is from Newberg,

Oregon, about 60

miles south of

Portland. It is known

for its great wine

and George Fox

University. She is

majoring in

psychology, and

hopes to counsel

adults when she is

done with her

schooling. She loves

to read and write and also enjoys theater (her picture is from a production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer's Night Dream). Her poem, “The unheard voice of a book,” was written for a creative writing class. The instructions were to write a poem using this specific model, but the content could be about anything. The way the lines are structured reminded her of shelves of books in a library. Her love of books made this poem personal.
