It ’ s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in at least one part of Brookville . As most of you know we raise Santa ’ s reindeer on our Choose-and-Cut Christmas tree farm . I just got back from a Reindeer Owners & Breeders Association regional meeting in Wisconsin and really enjoyed spending time and sharing ideas with my reindeer friends . I ’ m always super charged up when I get back home . This weekend I brought back a few new , fun ideas that will be added to the Christmas tree farm experience this year . I ’ m not your Pinterest poster child but wait until you see what I will be making out of our reindeer antler sheds . They will be excellent stocking stuffers . Check out my Facebook page in the next few weeks for pictures of my crafty little ideas . Who wouldn ’ t want a little reindeer magic in their pocket or kitchen ?
In our last issue , we started a Name the Baby Reindeer from Alaska contest . We just found out that we will be getting a boy and a girl . Sooooo without further ado , I ’ d like to announce our winners for the Reindeer Adventure prize . Congratulations to Val and Dennis Stutler . You will join me on our farm for a one-onone visit with our reindeer . Bring your camera . I love seeing our reindeer on those very special Christmas cards .
If you ’ d like to book a reindeer adventure of your own , give me a call or email me and we will make it happen .
Happy holidays to you and yours from all of us at Whitetail Acres . dillsboro @ goBEACONnews . com
“ The Dearborn Community Foundation , Inc . awarded a grant to the Town of Dillsboro from the City of Lawrenceburg Community Grant Program Phase 2 for Friendship Gallery – HVAC replacement on both floors of the building ,” said Tom Snape , Program Director for the Dearborn Community Foundation . The Town of Dillsboro is deeply grateful to the Foundation and the City of Lawrenceburg for their generous gift .
“ The HVAC was older and inefficient last winter . And then the air conditioner started going out during the sweltering summer . Leaking condensation lines have damaged wooden floors and has added to mounting costs for the renovation of the building ,” explained Doug Rump , Dillsboro Town Manager .
The Friendship Gallery was purchased last year through a gifting agreement from Friendship Financial Services . The Dillsboro Arts , a nonprofit organization , is running the facility under the Dillsboro Community Partnership . Dillsboro Arts is home to a writer ’ s group , music circle ,
Sports memorabilia displayed at the Heritage Festival .
and gallery shows that change every two months . It is a gathering place for community groups and a place for artful conversation .
Thanks to Cherry Rump ’ s leadership and countless hours of volunteers ’ work , the third annual Dillsboro Heritage Festival was an amazing tribute to our community . The weekend included artfully displayed mementos and information at the Civic Center , the needlework display , the historical virtual tour with Jim Deaton , a classic car show , the Veterans Walk , pioneer games and activities , a scavenger hunt , a Skirt Game , a Special Honors and Awards , and a concert on the lawn . I ’ m sure year four is already in the planning stages . Don ’ t miss it ! 2018 DCP Car Show Winners Veteran ’ s Choice- Frank
