From a Dog ' s- Or Cat ’ s- Point of View

By Timmy & Tammy Turner
Hello , my name is Timmy . I am a 13 + -year-old Chihuahua . I want to talk to you about something that is very important to my friends here and to me .
Committing to saving ninety percent of the dogs and cats
Timmy who enter the shelter is a very important step to becoming a no-kill community . We here at Paws take that commitment seriously . The term , “ no- kill ,” can sometimes be misleading . Animals are not put down due to overcrowding or because they are very old like me . However , some must be put down because of medical reasons or
Bright Christian Church no later than 2:00 , or gather on the south side of the church to assemble and then line up . Either way , parade entries should be in the lineup by 2:00 . The parade route and all side roads will be closed to traffic promptly from 3:00 until about 4:00 . Spectators should bring a lawn chair and join the crowd to watch a great parade .
The Bright Fire and EMS do such a wonderful job all year long protecting our families , our homes and our businesses . Please show your support and thank them for all of their dedication and hard work . The community ’ s support of their only fund raiser of the year will show them how much all that they do for the community is appreciated .
for aggressive behavior .
Community involvement is needed . Adoptions and rescues help to keep animals from staying in a shelter too long . Shelters get a “ paw up ” with programs that save more cats , one of which is the fostering program .
It ’ s kitten season ! Come in and sign up to be a foster for kittens . Because of the community volunteering to foster litters that are coming into the shelter , the kittens are staying healthier . Supplies are provided to keep the kittens until they weigh two pounds , at which point they can be spayed or neutered and put up for adoption . Trapping and bringing in feral or outside cats for spaying or neutering , then releasing them , is keeping the population down . The spay / neuter and TNR ( trap , neuter , release ) programs are working .

See you at the parade on July 28 !
Most of you have pets at home , so you know they can sometimes make demands . Asking for a treat by an insistent bark or meow . Rolling on the floor for a much-needed belly rub . Bringing their favorite toy to you for a quick game of fetch . If you live with animals , you know the unique ways they get what they want . These pets are the lucky ones . They have a home , and they have you . While it ’ s true that your pets can make the occasional demands , they are small in comparison to the love and joy they give to you .
Here at the shelter , volunteers give us the love and attention that we need to help us get over the fact that we were either given up or abandoned through no fault of our own . We hope a loving family will make the decision that they have the room and the love to include just one more into their family . ( I ’ m really small and don ’ t take up much room !) Until then , we will all be here at the shelter where we can stay as long as it takes for our forever home to be found . So please come in and visit us awhile ; we love the company . If you have any questions , call the shelter at 812-577-0829 or email them at pawshumanecenter @ pawsdearborn . org .
Love you and hope to see you soon .
