What an adorable idea for
Halloween!
not thank all of the volunteers
enough that come together for
this single event. HVL rocks!
The weather for the Children’s
Halloween Walk did not disap-
point either with the blue skies
for the excited trick or treat-
ers. Don’t forget the Casino
Night at the HVL Golf Club
on Friday, Nov. 30. Santa’s
workshop is Dec. 2 at 2 P.M.,
so mark your calendars.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
The grocery stores will be in-
sane over the next few days.
Do you have your turkey yet?
And don’t forget to watch
the traditional NYC Macy’s
Thanksgiving Day Parade.
This Fall has been amazing
with all of its warm tempera-
tures. The Haunted Hayride
had an incredible turnout this
year! Almost 1,200 people
rode the hayride thru HVL!
The homes on Cravenhurst go
ALL OUT for this event. This
year the Children’s Activity
Committee (CAC) gave five
$50 gift cards to the most
well-decorated homes on the
route. The community makes

‘Tis the season to be jolly!
The Harrison Christmas Parade
is the perfect way to kick off the
month of December. The fun
begins Saturday, Dec. 1 with
the parade leaving the com-
munity center at 5 P.M. Make
sure to stop down for cookies
and hot chocolate. Santa will be
there to help celebrate!
In local school news, plans
are really underway for the new
buildings. As they continue to
move forward, SLSD Super-
intendent, John Hamstra, will
continue to hold informal “cof-
fee chat” sessions on a monthly
basis. The purpose is to invite
community members to get
a better understanding of the
school district and answer any
questions. The sessions take
place every Friday at the end of
the month from 9-11 A.M. at
the coffee shop- a great way to
get direct information about our
schools and give valuable input.
St. John’s announced that the
Dedication of the New Church
will be taking place on June
1, 2019. Even though the red
brick is up, a great deal of work
still needs to be completed on
the inside.
The gas line work continues
in the downtown Harrison area.
RLA Utilities will continue
to lay new gas lines on behalf
of Duke Energy into late fall
and early winter. The blacktop
used for sidewalks and other
concrete areas is only tempo-
rary and will be replaced by
new concrete as the new ser-
vice lines are activated. Small
businesses are encouraging
customers to continue to come
visit as there are plenty of park-
ing spaces available.
As this year comes to an end,
I look back and recognize all
of the positive strides our city
has made. Raising a family in a
place like this is truly an honor,
and I can’t wait to see what the
next year has in store for us!
