Fr . Jim has returned to Lima Peru , as he felt he is needed there and loves the people very much . He is involved with working with the seminarians , and Marriage Encounter , along with helping parish priests with Mass and the sacraments .
I ran into Fr . Jim a number of times while he was home . He celebrated Holy Mass at All Saints Parish and visited in the area . I told him that he and his fifty years of serving as a priest are admiration to many . I hope that I am in as good of shape as Father Jim when I am seventy-eight . We wish him many more years of good health and priestly service .

You know how every once in a while , you do something and the little voice inside says , “ There . That ’ s it . That ’ s why you ’ re here .” … and you get a warm glow in your heart because you know it ’ s true ? Do more of that . Quote by Jacob Nordby . batesville @ goBEACONnews . com

My goodness , it is time for another article for the Beacon . I must be getting up there ( older ) in my years as it seems like I just wrote an article . Well , we are enjoying the long , summer days . Hopefully , we will have a beautiful fall and get to enjoy some colorful leaves . The grass mowing will be slowing down . It seems summer passes so quickly , fall is nice , but winter drags by so slowly .
We are having repair work done on the inside of our home . We have a new roof now , but we had water damage inside on our living room ceiling and wall . We are finally getting this repair work started . Our house is a total mess ! I must wash windows , curtains , keep wiping the dust off everything and move everything so Randy Bentle can keep working . It will be so good to get this work all finished and get our house
back to normal again . Our United Methodist Women ’ s group from Dearborn Hills UMC served a lunch / picnic to the North Dearborn Retirement Village residents . A large number of residents enjoyed food and desserts prepared by all of the ladies in the group . Of course , you worry , are we going to have enough food ? We had plenty of food and everything was delicious . All of the guests enjoyed the day and invited us back whenever we could come . We thanked them for showing their appreciation , and we enjoyed our time with them .
Our walls must have had more damage than we thought as it is taking longer than we expected . Randy has finished all of his plastering and painted all that we wanted to be done . But now getting everything dusted , polished , and cleaned is taking longer than I thought .
In one area we have stacks of old magazines and catalogs which need to be sorted .
We will save a few of them , but some will need to be discarded . Ernie is sorting through some of his things deciding what to keep and what to throw away . Well , we will
get everything organized eventually . I do hope it is soon !!
Ernie got an electric wheel chair . A company with whom we have been dealing for two months finally delivered it . A lot of practice is needed to learn how to drive the chair . It has a joy lever on the arm , but turning right requires that you push the control to the left . To turn left , you push the control to the right . Now , how confusing can that be ? It sure takes a lot of practice , and Ernie ’ s patience isn ’ t too good . While he has learned a thing or two about the chair , he still has more to learn .
Happy birthday to all the September birthdays . We have five in our family .
