Fifteen of Manchester ’ s most avid readers were privileged to eat a special luncheon in the library with Troy Cummings . In random order are Jade Adkins , Bailey Dilts , Deegan Cole , Saffira Anderson , Brady Buckhave , Kolton Harris , Kaeli Slone , Evan Schwipps , Austin Gregory , Logan Gregory , Ashton Short , Adriana Sanchez , Piper Cole , Leigha Anderson , Gracie Brock .
FUN !” Troy Cummings has written and / or illustrated over thirty children ’ s books . He is best known for his series , The Notebook of Doom , in which funny monsters are overcome through the escapades of a sometimes scared , but resourceful kid , named Alex . Mr . Cummings lit up the creative minds of our children for one hour and for the rest of the day they too were making up monsters , writing stories .
Later the same day , family and friends got to see just how brightly our students shine

as they visited the school for the “ Super Shiners Showcase Academic Fair .” Every grade level displayed projects showing off their creative abilities and the lessons they had learned through much research and study . Famous Hoosiers , novel studies and solar system projects were just a few of the many things visitors got to experience . As one dad said , “ I never knew there were so many famous people from Indiana !” Parents also had the opportunity to try out the Minds in Motion course and the Google Expedition goggles . Amazing things are happening in Manchester every day as our youngest community members become world explorers . Just ask one of them to tell you about their latest adventure .

Hi Neighbors !!
The creation of this article usually takes a few days- interviewing individuals , visiting certain places and spending time at the coffee club ( liar ’ s bench !!) to gather ideas for the article .
This column is different than those in the past . It does not have any happiness . Walt Bryant , an original member of
the coffee club and a friend , was killed unexpectedly . He was a neighbor to many in Aurora . Now he is gone .
Walt ’ s neighbors commented on what a good man he was . Many shared stories he had told about his exploits in the service .
During his time in Vietnam , a bounty was placed on Walt ! He survived all of these threats but did not survive the unexpected one in his own home . Walt was happy playing golf , singing , and leading men in the Army . A few years ago his life-long companion and wife , Betty , passed away .
Walt had told us many stories about his experiences as a member of an elite rifle team in the Army . We will all miss him .
That ’ s all this time but ….. have you ever wondered what we could do to have a safe community ??
Let me hear from you .

School nurse , Tamra Jutzi , has presented a pilot program for the students at Milan Elementary School . The program is called Vision Possible and would assist students who may need specialized eye care . The Lions Clubs in our community do a wonderful job of screening students each year , and this would be a good follow-up to their findings . Many families have difficulties with the expense of further vision care . A lot of high school athletes were not passing the eye exams during athletic screenings . Upon further investigation , programs to assist with the cost of free eye exams were found , but no money was available for specialized needs . The Vision Possible program would help by providing assistance at no cost to the student through a grant from the United Way . In cooperation with Dearborn County Hospital and other organizations , the project would help schools bus the kids to eye care centers where they could be seen by specialists and fitted with glasses and / or treated for other vision issues that may be identified .
