Schuman in honor of his 90th birthday which was on Jan . 23 . His family surprised him with a party on Jan . 14 in honor of this big day ! Hope you had a great day Wally !
Alvin Werner “ Junior ,” 61 , of St . Leon , passed on to be with our Lord on Jan . 18 . Alvin was a loving father , grandfather , son and brother . He was a shooting and sports enthusiast and loved watching football . Junior was my neighbor growing up , and I used to baby sit for the family . He will be missed by all .

February is a sad month for our family . I lost two of my brothers in this month . Greg passed in Feb . 2010 and Bob passed in Feb . 2013 . A day doesn ’ t go by that I don ’ t think of the both of them .
In conjunction with the North Dearborn Conservation Club of which Greg Andres was an officer and avid member , a scholarship fund was established in his memory with the Dearborn Community Foundation . It is called the Greg Andres / North Dearborn Conservation Club Scholarship . This scholarship is available for students from East Central or Franklin County High Schools who are pursuing a college education

in the healthcare field , law enforcement or becoming a conservation officer . If interested , get in touch with your school ’ s guidance department for the application . The deadline for scholarships is typically in March or April so now is the time to be getting these applications completed .

Brrr , it sure is cold outside just 10 degrees . I was a little bit bored on New Year ’ s Day , so I started to take my Christmas tree down when I received a call from my walking buddy , Celeste . She said , “ Guess what Versailles State Park is having ? A New Year ’ s Day walk . Would you like to go ?” We both headed to Versailles State Park on a mission to get into shape for the New Year . When we arrived , we noticed we were the first car in the parking lot , but shortly after that , a total of twentytwo cars appeared . Behind

one of the masks we discovered the Mayor of Greendale , Alan Weiss . He also decided to venture out into the cold for the hike . Mayor Weiss is no novice to hiking ; he has hiked the Appalachian Trail . Both Celeste , I have decided we are sticking to hiking , we are not ever doing the Polar Plunge .
Curb side recycling will begin in Greendale in April . Each Greendale household will receive two 96-gallon containers- a brown one for trash , a green one for recycling . Smaller carts will be provided upon request . Recyclables , trash will be picked up once a week . A $ 42,000 matching grant from the Indiana Department of Environmental was awarded to Greendale to help with the cost of the containers . Recycling does make a difference , so let ’ s start saving cans , glass , newspaper , plastic items today . Go green Greendale , support your town .
