With Clark Durland
Clark Durland is 32 years old living vivaciously in Tulsa, Oklahoma. By attending the Little Light House, Clark received the foundation to build the inclusive life he has today. As parents, we were so thankful for the early intervention and therapy services. The program assisted Clark to develop his outward expression of love and compassion that he radiates to others.
Clark’ s achievements have surpassed all expectations. Clark was Prom King for the class of 2004 at Jenks High School, where he also served as manager of the varsity basketball team. In 2005, Clark received the coveted international“ Yes I Can!” award through the Council for Exceptional Children, honoring the accomplishments of 21 students worldwide.
After recognizing his incredible achievements, the kindness of a professor at ORU allowed Clark to fulfill his dream of attending college. For several years he participated in a class to facilitiate the training of special education majors. Then an employment opportunity became available, which allowed Clark to work at Apache Corporation until the closing of the Tulsa office, being a member of the office services team.
Currently, Clark is a student at Pathways Adult Learning Center. It has allowed him to continue on his path of spiritual growth, developing life skills and vocational training. Clark is a paid artist for Pathways and adores it. He has also won numerous ribbons exhibiting his own art at the Tulsa State Fair. Clark has won many medals in Special Olympics, and has participated in the Little Light House’ s annual fun run, Laps for Little Ones, almost every year. Clark loves bringing joy to others as a volunteer at Joy in the Cause.
With a grateful heart, Clark lives life to the fullest each and every day.
