On Northside.
The very classical bones and proportion of
that house were good, which is a rare asset.
I moved the kitchen to the thick of it, where
you could see all the rooms and chambers
of the house. That is something you would
never find in a traditional home like that, but
it now lives completely modern - whilst still
holding the pedigree of a classic home. Our
primary goal was to open up the home to
the back, so we added lots of steel windows
to engage the back court with the interior.
On The Kitchen.
The whole story of the kitchen needed
to change. We needed to move it from
a wing of the house to the middle where
it had command. So the house now lives like
a house that more people will want, and
it ensures its future and stewardship.
On Teamwork.
John Plaster worked with me. The concept
is usually initiated by me, but Plaster really
pulls through enormous design development
and maintenance that happens through the
process, which is changing constantly.
