TUSCON, Ariz. – With first pitch of the 2017 season less than two months away, the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper released its pre-season Division II poll recently. Of the four GLVC programs to crack the top-40, none were higher than the University of Indianapolis

in the poll and enter the

Colorado Mesa and
California Baptist
as the publication's
No. 13-ranked team
in the country. The
Hounds went 38-21 in 2016, winning the program's record sixth GLVC Tournament and advancing to the 15th NCAA Midwest Regional in program history.
It marks the second time the Greyhounds have cracked the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's pre-season poll, the last coming prior to the 2013 season when the Hounds were ranked 12th in Division II. The Hounds have received votes in each of the website's last three pre-season polls.
Joining the Greyhounds in the rankings are conference foes Quincy, Southern Indiana and Missouri S&T, who check in at numbers 22, 23 and 35, respectively.
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – California Baptist University ended 2016 on its home field as a finalist in the NCAA Division II West Region, and is picked to be one of the top powers in the West once again in 2017.
Coming off a banner season, the Lancers are ranked 14th in Division II overall and second among West Region teams in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's preseason poll.
There was plenty to celebrate in 2016, with the Lancers winning a program-high 42 games and claiming their fifth conference championship in seven years and third PacWest title. They also became the first CBU program to host an NCAA postseason event, not only qualifying for the NCAA postseason for the third year in a row, but advancing further than they ever had before.
Cal Poly Pomona, the two-time reigning champ in the West, is the only regional team ranked higher than CBU at No. 6 in the division. PacWest rival Dixie State is not far off the Lancers at No. 15, while UC San Diego (No. 24), Chico State (No. 37) and Point Loma (No. 40) also represent the West Region in the top-40.
