SUMMARY

In this article, I have provided guidelines that a secondary collegiate or professional baseball player can use when seeking to become skilled at maintaining a good perspective---- that is, balancing baseball with the rest of their life.

These guidelines were derived from my study of major league players over many years from empirical research in human performance psychology and the behavioral sciences, and my own professional work. The guidelines can be considered by baseball players at various levels of competitive play as well as by coaches, parents, mental skills professionals, and sport psychologists.
