NJCAA DIII Round – Up Last Week: April 27th-May 3rd Herkimer get their second perfect game of the season, this time from Joe Nellis Pre-season rankings had the top 5 as: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) Tyler (TX) Cumberland (NJ) Herkimer County (NY) St. Cloud Tech (MN) Northern Essex (MA) Last week (4/29/15) Starting Polls 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Herkimer County Community College (25-3) Century College (25-7) Tyler Junior College (30-8) Brookhaven College (29-14) Rowan College (29-8) During the Week: #1 Herkimer on (4/28), defeated Fulton-Montgomery 12-2 and 12-1 in a doubleheader. On 4/30 team collected their 13th sweep of the season at home, defeating Fulton-Montgomery 5-4 and 10-0 in another doubleheader. #2 Century on 4/28 played a DH at Western Technical and won both 18-6 and 9-1. In game two, starter Mitch DeGrasse went the distance with 8k’s, 3BB and 1 ER. #3 Tyler played a single mid-week game vs. Bossier Parish and won 5-2. Tyler used eight pitchers in the win. #4 Brookhaven College played at Richland College defeating them 5-2. #5 Rowan College was at home on 4/29 vs. Camden County losing 8-12. Then on 4/30 they met up with Montgomery County winning 14-0. Weekend Play: #1 Herkimer (33-3) continued to win. The baseball team collected their 23rd consecutive victory, defeating SUNY Adirondack 13-3 and 10-0 on 5/1. In game two, Herkimer got their second perfect game of the season, this time from freshman Joe Nellis. Herkimer got their 24th & 25th straight wins defeating ColumbiaGreene Community College 13-1 and 14-2 at home on (5/2). #2 Century (32-7) met Bismarck State at home and swept the DH with them 4-2 and 15-2. On 5/3 they finished their three game series vs. Bismarck State with a win 10-0. #3 Tyler (34-8) opened up their three game series vs North Arkansas on 5/2 by winning 12-0. On 5/3 they met up with North Arkansas for a doubleheader defeating them 7-0 and 2-1 to complete the sweep. #4 Brookhaven College (29-14) posted no scores. They were scheduled to play North Lake College on 5/1 and 5/2. #5 Rowan College (34-9) came back on 5/2 and played in the opening round of the NJCAA Region 19 Tournament. The #1 seed Rowan were matched up with Montgomery County again in a DH - taking both games 14-4 and 11-1.
