During the week: #1 Cowley County was idle during the week. #2 St. Johns
River was idle during the week. They will next play in the FCSAA State/NJCAA Region
Tournament May 8-13. St. Johns River has won their third straight Mid-Florida
Conference Championship.
#3 Iowa Western started a busy 10 game week with a DH win on 4/27 vs.
Marshaltown CC defeating them 5-2 and 10-2. On 4/29 Iowa Western took another DH.
This time defeating Southeast CC 5-3 and 8-2. Continuing their grueling schedule for
the week, they took on MCC – Longview winning 6-3 and 11-0 on 4/30. The game one
win gave Head Coach Marc Rardin his 600th career win. #4 Chipola was idle during
the week. #5 Johnson County was idle during the week.
Weekend Play: #1 Cowley County (49-3) had a DH at home vs. Colby Community
College on 5/2 – winning both games of this sub-regional 12-2 and 13-3. #2 St.
Johns River (44-8) will next play in the FCSAA State/NJCAA Region Tournament May
8-13. #3 Iowa Western (46-5) finished their 10 game week with a four game series
vs. Muscatine CC with DH’s on 5/2 and 5/3. Iowa Western took all four games –
finishing the regular season with 29 straight wins. #4 Chipola (39-10) played only
one game over the weekend at Darton State College – losing 4-9. #5 Johnson
County (48-9) was home vs. Pratt Community College on 5/2 for a doubleheader
winning both games 6-5 and 13-3. In game one, Johnson City scored one run in the
bottom of the 9th to break the 5-5 tie and win the game. They will next play in the
Region VI Championship tournament May 8-12th in Wichita, Kansas.
