Schlossnagle Reaches Milestone In Win Courtesy: TCU Athletics 5/1/14: MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The TCU Horned Frogs exploded for a 9-4 victory over West Virginia to help head coach Jim Schlossnagle earn his 500th win in a TCU uniform. Derek Odell and Evan Skoug homered to lead the offensive charge. Tyler Alexander (4-2) turned in a solid performance on the mound as he tossed a season-high 8 1/3 innings. He allowed four runs on eight hits, walked one and struck out nine. Preston Guillory allowed two hits and struck out one in 2/3 of an inning. Nolan Brown kick-started a second inning that saw nine men come to the plate. A stolen base and a ground ball later, Brown was standing on third with one out. Garrett Crain put the Frogs on top 1-0 with a base hit. Keaton Jones followed with a double to put two in scoring position. Cody Jones ripped a single to right to push the lead to 2-0 and a wild pitch brought home Keaton Jones for a 3-0 lead. A one-out home run from Taylor Munden got the Mountaineers on the board in the bottom of the third. Justin Fox worked a walk and moved to second on a two-out hit to put the tying runs on base. Alexander wiggled off the hook with his third strikeout of the game. TCU got the run back in the top of the fourth as Derek Odell launched his first home run of the season over the right field fence with two outs to make it a 4-1 game. The Frogs exploded for five runs in the eighth to put the game out of reach. Elliott Barzilli led off the inning with a base hit. A pair of wild pitches around a ground out allowed him to score to make it 5-1. Cody Jones singled with two outs to start a streak of five straight Frogs to reach with two outs. After Odell drew his fourth walk of the game, Connor Wanhanen ripped single through the left side, bringing home Jones for a 6-1 lead. Evan Skoug followed with a three-run bomb to right field. The home run was the fourth of the season for the freshman. A double to open the ninth from Jackson Cramer broke a string of 12 straight retired by Alexander. Kyle Davis followed with a base hit to make it a 9-2 game. Alexander got a strikeout for the first out but yielded an infield single to put two on with one out. Two more hits made it a 9-4 ballgame before Guillory got the final two batters to end the game.
