Colophon
The 71st edition of the 2018 The Bark
was printed by Balfour in Dallas,
Texas. The theme for the yearbook
was In Living Color. The theme
represents the boldness that Jasper
High School has to offer, the many
opportunities, and how present they
are and are truly in color. Jasper isn t
just one color, it s many different
ones coming together to make
something great.
Our sales representative was Lee
Briggs and our plant representative
was Michelle Castillo. All student
portraits were taken by Lifetouch, Inc.
located in Tyler, Texas. Our Lifetouch
representative was Charlie Falco.
The cover is UV coated with a
lithocote gloss. The cover was
sketched by artist Carolina Rosales of
the Balfour team at yearbook camp
of July 2017 in College Station. Balfour yearbook plant.
The pre-sale cost of the book was
$40 until the first day of school and
went up to $45. On January 1st the
price went up to $50 and on March
1st the price rose to $60.
The book is a 8 ½ x 11 inch format
printed on 100 pound gloss paper
and white index paper for the end
sheets. The Bark used eleven Dell
computers, two Cannon T5 cameras
and one Cannon T5I camera. A
special thanks to Jason Dunn for
providing some of his pictures for use
in the yearbook. The 144 page book
was designed in the Studioworks
online program. The font families

From the Editor
Being the Editor-in-Chief of the
yearbook staff this year was a
great honor, one that I ll hold
dear. However, it s a lot of hard
work. Early mornings and late
nights have kept me busy but to
see the finished product of all the
staff s hard work has all been
worth it.
This staff is the best I ve had the
privilege to be a part of in my
three years, and I m honored that
I got to serve as their editor this
year. I d like to say that while its
been a long, tough year this staff
144
has worked tirelessly to create
and publish a book to reflect on
the year and hopefully look
forward to the years to come.
Through difficult times and some
fun times, this year has been one
to remember. This book is one of
the best we ve produced and it
wasn t easy. It s been one of the
most complex books with so
many different elements but it s
all come together to make a
book that we are all most proud
of.
As many good times as I had this
year being editor, I m excited to
see what becomes of next year.
Will full confidence in next year s
Editor-in-Chief, I pass on the
responsibilities and duties of the
editor. And to the next editor,
remember to have fun. Yes, you
not only have to work hard but
you also have to give your time
and push your staffers to work
harder as well. The staff looks up
to you, and it s up to you to be
the example they re looking for.
Whatever happens, you can
overcome the obstacles and
deliver a book to the public that
is, in and of itself, priceless.
Thank you to everyone who
made this year possible, to my
assistant editor for being the
support the Editor always needs,
and to my advisor for showing
me the ropes these past three
years and trusting me this year to
lead a staff of responsible and
dedicated members. For the last
time, with no more deadlines, it s
been a honor.
Sincerely,
Mattie Hamilton
