Softball is one of the craziest sports to watch at Jasper High School. From the enthusiastic fans, Lanni Mcgallin 11 throwing impressive pitches, and Megan Neff 11 leading chants in the dug out, there is never a dull moment. The hype starts even before the game does. The team goes all out on game days, they all wear their jerseys to school along with a full face of makeup. They fully embrace the mantra of look good, play good. That isn t their only tradition though. Before every game the team prays together, they beat on buckets with drum 6 sticks, and on their way to their first away game of the season the new team members have to put in headphones, turn the volume all the way up, and sing the song they are listening to alone. Their traditions not only add to their excitment for the game, but make them a closer team! For most of the girls on the team softball has been their life for a very long time. They have played on little league teams and select teams, and several of the girls plan to continue playing softball in college. They have even chosen to help inspire the next generation by participating in the softball buddy prgram! This is an oppurtunity for the team to get to know players from the little leauge teams in town and form mentorships. They also invite a few girls to come throw out the first pitch at home games and run onto the field with the team. While the lady dog softball team is working on their own goals and aspirations, they are cultivating new ones in a younger generation. Britney Scott 12 7 Varsity Softball 119
