WHAT IT TAKES AND DRIVES CAR 48 TO DO THE CHARGE

Fundraising to save Kenya’s most important important assets – the forests & water towers is a driving force for why Car 48 do the Rhino charge but also for the love of motorsport and the challenges the Rhino Charge charge presents on the day.

For months before the car is prepared and modifications made to improve the car from the previous year. Car 48 has had the same team for the last 10 years, the whole event is about team work and everyone has a role. Mark Glen ‘Banda pupil’ is the driver/ Gerard Beaton is on Navigation finding routes; medic Bryn Llewelyn is chief navigator and time keeper; Piers Daykin the mechanic and winch operator is our ‘magician’; Steve Outram (former Banda parent) is a runner and operates the winch whilst Johnny Harris is the main runner scouting for routes.
