Patents / Intellectual Property
We do not have a patent, as advised by our business consultant. His recommendation was that the patent covers the 'exact' way we created the code for AVA. As all code writers write differently, there would be no reason to protect the exact code.
We do own the copyright on the code so it can't be duplicated.
Our logo is also copyrighted.
The market for event management is moving towards more collaborative and accessible system, allowing interactive communication and effective and efficient management.
Direct competitors:
•Planning Pod is a collaborative planning platform. It offers several comparable services, in addition to floor plans. It, however, is collaborative, meaning that clients are able to edit data without the consultant's knowledge and approval.
•Wedding Wire is an advertiser-based platform for brides. Higher-level advertisers are able to access bride inquiries and submit proposals to them. It has an elementary platform for budgeting and task management.
Indirect competitors:
First generation computer planning software such as Murphy's Creative software and Frog Software.
•Murphy's Creative software is a one-license software on a CD that was uploaded to a single desktop and backed up on that one desktop. It is not collaborative or cloud-based. The cost per license is $350. Many planners have been using this for their planning, but recognize the need for a cloud-based platform for collaboration.
•Corporate in-house event planning tools, such as CaterEase.
