There’s always lawyers’ looking for clients with TV commercials, or with fliers or
ads on the sides of buses. Believe it or not, the best place to start may be with your
friends and family
The internet is also a great resource. Rather than looking at lawyer’s websites, look at
directory websites. The local bar association will maintain a list of reputable lawyers
in your area. Other resources include http://www.nolo.com/lawyers which divides
lawyers by specialty.
Experience is always a good indication. If they have spend a lot more time
representing a plaintiff, and you’re a defendant, they may not be the best person for
you.
Many times you’ll end up speaking with a partner, when a less experienced associate
may actually be doing the majority of the work.

Once you’ve decided on a lawyer, you’ll want to make sure you have a clear
agreement with them that details who is paying for what, and when. More than that,
you’ll want to be sure that they know exactly what outcome you’re hoping for. That
is going to be the key factor when they decide how to pursue your case.
