Since 1991 , the Truancy Intervention Project ( TIP ) has been a leader in working to increase student attendance and opportunities for success through legal and family advocacy . TIP is celebrating 30 years with over 11,000 students impacted . TIP partners with Atlanta Public Schools , Fulton County Public Schools , and the Fulton County Juvenile Court to promote the importance of school attendance among students and their families and to intervene directly with students who are truant or at risk of becoming truant .
We would not be where we are today without our highly skilled volunteers from Atlanta ’ s legal community . Since 1992 , TIP volunteers have provided more than 197,000 hours of service to Fulton County children and their families . Through the experienced intervention of volunteers and staff , TIP ’ s programs identify the root cause of a child ’ s truancy , connect the student and family with appropriate resources , and provide mentoring , advocacy , and support as the family and child get school attendance back on track . This intense focus on school attendance and advocacy for the child and family alike has created an overall success rate of 86.5 % for the more than 11,000 students TIP has impacted .
