To date , per his recollection , Butler has received eight verdicts over $ 1 million . However , he explained that these verdicts are most likely reduced or reversed under statute . He noted that collecting these verdicts has never been a problem . He also recalled that only one of his verdicts was paid in full – the Six Flags verdict .
Some of the Words of Wisdom he left with attendees were “ Try your good ones , settle your bad ones ” and “ Become more technically proficient with social media ”. He also closed with the importance of focus groups . Butler stressed that focus groups are a necessity and that they help to refine your arguments . I n case you missed it , last month ’ s Legends of the Bar , like so many others , was phenomenal . The legendary Randy Kessler served as moderator and interviewer for an intimate conversation with James E . Butler , Jr . on September 21 , 2022 . If you are unaware , Butler , a products liability attorney , is one of the attorneys on the plaintiff ’ s team who was recently awarded a $ 1.7 billion verdict against Ford Motor Company . Attendees were able to spend an hour with Mr . Butler gaining words of wisdom from the legend himself .
Within the first thirty minutes , Butler walked us through how he got started in his legal career . After graduating from law school , he met and found mentors in the practice . He noted that he started out by taking cases that others did not want . Through referrals , Mr . Butler received his first fourteen cases . He also won all fourteen of
