Kickoff Socials
The Real Estate Section started off the 2017 – 2018 section year in August with a happy hour at Torched Hop Brewing Company, where the members socialized and enjoyed some great food, house made beers and a fun game of bocce ball. We then kicked off October by gathering to watch the Atlanta United soccer team play in the new Mercedes Benz Stadium. It was a great opportunity for many members to see the Mercedes Benz Stadium for the first time and get to know other section members. There were some exciting moments throughout the game, with Atlanta United scoring two goals, but Minnesota United ultimately pulled away with the win.
We began our series on September 8 with an excellent presentation by Ranse Partin on Planning for Trial and Discovery. Ranse is a founding partner with Conley, Griggs and Partin, where he specializes in complex commercial litigation. He recently won an $ 11.7 million federal court verdict against the U. S. Civil Air Patrol arising from a fatal plane crash in LaGrange, Georgia. Drawing on his experience from that case and others, Ranse discussed what he does to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of a case. Ranse emphasized that lawyers must re-evaluate their case throughout the entire litigation process and be ready for any eventuality. We are grateful to Ranse for beginning our new series with such an engaging and informative presentation.
Our lead-off program on September 8 was not just well received. It also was sold out. One way to ensure a seat at upcoming programs is to purchase a Breakfast Series Season Pass or, better yet, a deeply-discounted SuperPass™, which gives you access to virtually everything we do. Please join us.

Upcoming Joint CLE
On Wednesday, October 25, 2017, the Real Estate Section will be hosting a joint CLE breakfast with the Construction Law Section. Kevin Green, with the Midtown Alliance, will be speaking about the growth and transformation of Midtown over the past 10 years and the legal and policy initiatives that have influenced Midtown Atlanta ' s transformation from a disinvested area to a thriving center for commerce and culture. We are looking forward to this upcoming CLE breakfast and hope that our section members come out and join us.
