The reason being is that is these groups only provide new socks and new underwear to the people they need and therefore there is always need. They do not take used socks or underwear. I thought it was a great idea and suggested that the campaign be called Sox in a Box. While we did not do the campaign during that fiscal year, we ran the campaign during my tenure as Chair, 2016-2017. We chose Threads. Threads, located in Midtown Atlanta is a volunteer ministry driven by a desire to provide children in need with clean, well-fitting clothes and footwear. The physical location is very much like a clothing boutique–they really want to provide the clothing that preserves the children's dignity. Their location, the agencies that refer them clients, and their mission statement is why we selected Threads. (As far as community impact and where the donations go– their web site sets that out). I personally and in a very simplistic, some say childlike manner, decorated Photography by Neal that Patton the box in the photo. I carried box to every breakfast, luncheon and event we put on last year. We actively market- ed the campaign through email blasts. I began receiving mostly through the mail packages every week of mostly socks. It was always bittersweet when the Amazon package addressed to me was not actually for me. AVLF started an in house campaign to add to the Sox in a Box Campaign. In the end, we had three copy boxes and one trash bag of new socks and underwear to present to Threads. 22 October 2017 ▪
