section update Construction Law Section Update By Philip E. Beck, Chair Smith, Currie & Hancock LLP [email protected] T he Construction Law Section of the Atlanta Bar Association kicked off the 2013-2014 Bar Year with a Board of Directors planning session on August 6, 2013, followed by the Section’s first Breakfast Meeting of the new Bar Year on September 25, 2013. Both meetings were well attended. The Section’s tentative schedule for the current year is as follows: • Wednesday, November 20, 2013: Tentative title: “What Keeps Design Professionals Awake at Night – a Panel Discussion,” by Hal Gray, Moderator, and Panelists Mark Chen of Heery, Tony Parker of Pond and Company, Deirdre Chriss of CNA, and possibly one more panelist; • Holiday Party – December 10, 2013, 5:30-7:30 p.m. (Five Seasons’ Sky Bar, 1000 Marietta Street); All monthly breakfast meetings will be held at The Buckhead Club, starting at 7:30 a.m., and are open to non-Section members for a small additional charge. All of the breakfast programs will qualify for Georgia CLE credit. The Construction Law Section is always searching for worthwhile pro bono and community service opportunities that have a construction law connection.
