section update Corporate Counsel Section Update By Michelle E. Edwards Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP T he Corporate Counsel Section along with the Association of Corporate Counsel are participating in a Joint Day of Service by volunteering at the Atlanta Community Food Bank on October 3, 2012 from 1-4 in the afternoon. The Joint Day of Service at the Atlanta Food Bank will be followed by a networking event and happy hour. The Corporate Counsel Section is teaming up with the Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta and hosting a training and CLE [email protected] seminar and presentation by the Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta on ways that in-house counsel and transactional lawyers can get involved and assist with pro bono projects for the Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta. The seminar will take place on October 24 at the offices of Baker Donelson from 12:00 - 1:30. An hour of CLE will be offered and lunch will be served. ■ Elder Law Section Update By Sarah R. Watchko DeBaun & Associates, PC T he Elder Law Section is looking forward to the introduction of at least two projects this year. The first is to host a "POA Day", where volunteers will provide Power of Attorney and Advance Directive for Healthcare forms for seniors to complete. Volunteer attorneys will be on site to help with the documents and answer any questions that arise. The Section Board has tentatively discussed The Official News Publication of the Atlanta Bar Association [email protected] hosting the event in downtown Decatur near a subsidized senior high rise. This will probably be in the early spring of 2013.
