2021 Braves World Series Parade

In case you missed it ( though I am sure you did not ), the Atlanta Braves won their first World Series this year since 1995 . Even if you are not an avid baseball fan , you know this is a BIG deal . I know some serious baseball fans , but I can only speak from the perspective of someone who knows the rules of baseball , yet I am admittedly not an expert . You did not , however , need to be a baseball aficionado to participate in this year ’ s festivities .

Lawyers and judges in Atlanta were extremely involved in the Braves World Series domination . I am sure you all saw the picture of the Georgia Supreme Court wearing matching Braves hats and pearl necklaces . Across Atlanta , law firms were taking clients to World Series games , and attorneys were attending the games with their friends . For those of us who were not fortunate enough to attend , we heard about the games around lunch tables and on phone calls with clients . Many people , who stayed up watching the games , came into work full of suggestions for the next World Series game .
Once the Braves won , a parade was planned . Fortunately for me , the parade route was right in front of my office . I received an email the day before regarding road closures and the parade route . On the day of the parade , there were people already on the street reserving their spots for the parade . At various times during the morning , I could hear the distinct sound of the Tomahawk Chop in my office on the 37th floor . That day , a lot of attorneys and paralegals in my firm brought their children to watch the parade , which added a more personal touch to the experience .
Fifteen minutes before the parade started , I went downstairs and was able to find a spot near the route . Fortunately , all of the players during the parade were wearing their jerseys and were easy to spot . Despite reports on various social media outlets , I did not have a problem with the speed of the parade . I was able to take pictures throughout , without any issues . I even saw Joc throwing pearls and was able to see the World Series trophy . While I was at the parade , watching the excitement , I was struck by how sports can bring people together . Attorneys and lay people alike , cheering on the Braves . www . atlantabar . org THE ATLANTA LAWYER 33
