You have been on the bench for 24 years and had a remarkable career in private practice and as a prosecutor before . What motivates you to keep going ?
I have always found personal satisfaction in public service – whether it was during my time as an assistant district attorney or now as a judge . I love my job ! I specifically enjoy the interactions with my law clerks for whom I am often the first professional mentor in the legal world , which comes with a certain responsibility . I enjoy the intellectual - and sometimes organizational - challenge of handling the biggest and toughest cases , like , for example , multi-district litigation cases . I also like being in the courtroom . I did when I was a trial lawyer .
