The Daily Report, in a review you can read here, called it“ criminally entertaining.” The program is worth a look, too. If you see the names of colleagues you know, ask them about their experience and you’ ll get, I bet, confirmation that the Atlanta Bar is a special place.
The show’ s finale,“ Can’ t Lose,” left no doubt about our post-election path forward. Here’ s the refrain, set to Kenny Loggin’ s song“ Footloose”:
Can’ t lose No more election blues We, agree, healing is what we need Back, on track, we know we can bounce back Reds and blues, knowing that we just can’ t lose
Everybody shout, everybody shout Everybody shout, everybody shout Everybody shout, everybody shout Everybody shout, everybody shout“ can’ t lose!”
You can be proud of your Atlanta Bar. Apart from just plain good entertainment, the Bard Show is more proof that your Bar is committed to bringing us together.
Does this having anything to do with the Bard Show? You bet it does. It too is an event that brings us together and lets us see the depth of our profession. With the Celebrating Service luncheon, we as a legal community pause to recognize those who have gone above and beyond with pro bono work for the less privileged.
TRUANCY INTERVENTION PROJECT
Speaking of above and beyond, TIP has been helping fight truancy for 25 years now. This important anniversary was celebrated in style on October 25th at an after-work event at Park Tavern. As you know, TIP is a program that the Atlanta Bar, together with the Juvenile Court, started to provide kids with legal representation when they run into school attendance problems. The Atlanta Bar, through its Foundation, is proud to be a TIP supporter.
In sum, your Atlanta Bar Association indeed has a long reach. Programs like the Bard Show and Celebrating Service, and support of other programs like TIP, help us see, know, experience, and shape our larger community. Yes, it takes time and effort and resources. But it is always worth it. You just can’ t lose!
