The Georgia Center for the Book
is the Georgia affiliate of the Cen-
ter for the Book at the Library of
Congress in Washington, D.C.
The Center, which is celebrating
its 20th anniversary, is currently
housed at the DeKalb County Pub-
lic Library on Sycamore Street in
Decatur. Considered one of the
largest non-profit literary organi-
zations in the Southeast, the Geor-
gia Center for the Book’s mission
is to support libraries and literary
programs, with a focus on Geor-
gia’s rich literary heritage. Tens of
thousands of people attend The
Center’s free events each year, in-
cluding the Center-sponsored AJC
Decatur Book Festival. For more
