The series covers a variety of topics highlighting the work of our pro bono partners while training attorneys on how to support the pro bono partner ’ s clients . As part of this year ’ s programming , I attended a CLE focusing on special education law and the process of creating an Individualized Education Program (“ IEP ”) plan for special education students . The program was titled “ From Confusion to Confidence : Hacking IEP Meetings ,” hosted by Jack H . Grote ( Atlanta Legal Aid ). The three-hour session provided training including a discussion of an IEP for the novice . We also reviewed Georgia law as well as federal law and guidelines for an IEP . Grote provided practical tips to empower advocates and parents to aid their child and engage in the process to get the best outcomes for the child ’ s education .
