As a law professor and doctoral student, I spend
a lot of time reflecting on what I know, and more
importantly, on what I don’t know. As a teacher,
student, mom, wife, President—I am always
learning. I try to remind myself to have a growth
mindset.

brain to adapt and to explore new things.” In
short, there is a clear link between attitude and
achievement.
I believe in an attitude of gratitude.
The concept of growth mindset stems from
research performed by Dr. Carol Dweck and
her colleagues focusing on the intersections of
education and neuroscience. Her research with
seventh-graders revealed not only that intelli-
gence is malleable, but also that when students
learn and understand this fact, they become To that end, April marks the Atlanta Bar’s first
ever Member Appreciation Month. We always
appreciate our members, but we are devoting
a full 30-day stretch specifically to express our
thanks.

One thing I do know, is how to throw a party. So,
we’ll cap off the month with another brand new
event: A Reception About Nothing. This strictly
social happy hour, will be Thursday, April 26
at 5:30 p.m. on the rooftop of Nelson Mullins
Riley & Scarborough. No program, no awards,
